JO BASTIAN - DIRECTOR

Jo started Bastian Architecture in order to provide a service which focused in equal parts on architectural design, the client’s budget and the desire to be creative an innovative with each project. Jo's experience in the highly detailed adaptive reuse of public buildings and bespoke hotels has enhanced her passion for well considered, site specific architecture. Jo is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects NSW Regional Committee, in a NSW Architect’s Registration Assessor and is registered under the Design and Building Practitioners Act in the unrestricted architectural class of Design Practitioner - Architectural. Prior to forming Bastian Architecture Jo gained extensive experience with well respected Sydney architecture firms MCK Architects, Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and Paul Berkemeier Architects.

Jo became a registered Architect in 2011 after graduating with a Masters of Architecture (First Class Honours) from the University of Newcastle in 2009.

In 2007 Jo was awarded the Eric Parker Traveling Scholarship which allowed her to travel extensively throughout Europe studying and visiting many extraordinary buildings and public spaces.

Over the past 10 years Jo has tutored design, communications + professional practice at the University of Newcastle, University of Sydney + the University of Technology Sydney; Jo currently tutors in the Undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle.

Your project will need the involvement of a number of consultants and/or collaborators. We are happy to work with any consultant you may know however, if you don’t have a structural engineer or town planner in your circle of family or friends we can suggest a few we work closely with:
